via Fir Copse, Alice Holt Forest and Bottom Copse. Picnic lunch.
A short walk to church where Field Marshall Montgomery is laid to rest. It is then a level stretch to one of the many wooded hangers on route. A lake on our left with fields rising to our right leads to another hanger which we descend and then rise to Stubbs Farm and South Hay Farm. An open landscape leads us to our third hanger, and then on towards Alice Holt Forest, where you may here the cuckoo as we did on the 17th. April. Leaving the forest field paths take us along the edge of a golf course out on to the road back to Binsted. We leave the road taking field edge paths past Home Hanger and Bottom Copse back to Binsted and refreshment in the local Inn for those who wish.
With all the dry weather underfoot it will be almost impossible to find mud!
Some steps to descend and ascend hangers with one hanger missing most steps. Walking poles will help. An alternative to avoid this one is an option with no extra mileage. Four stiles on route which is mainly easy going with a couple of short hills but nothing requiring oxygen. Some lovely rural views and spring flowers.
