Overview

This walk is a tribute to the stepbuilders of Bollington. As San Francisco has its cable cars, so Valparaiso has its ascensores and Bollington has its steps. 701 of them at the last count. As well as steps this walk has fine hill walking with some great views, weather permitting. And a civil engineering curiosity. And a 21st century Ramblers' project which is weathering well.

Route: Macclesfield Canal, Endon Hall, Redway, White Nancy, Brookhouse, Snipe House, Lamaload Dam, Smith Lane, Clarke House, Blaze Hill, Savio House, Long Lane Farm, Sugarlane Farm.

At the recce, 7th Oct, the ground was in good shape for the time of year.

Bring lunch and water. No dogs.
