Mostly forest tracks, fields and along riverside - some road sections. Great panoramic views.
The route takes us along country roads by pretty cottages and old farm buildings (currently being developed as a whiskey distillery). Bowmont Forest, is a mature working forest along the edge of which there are splendid views south to the Cheviots. we walk along a short road section then turn north up Grahamslaw from which we have panoramic views of the Borders landmarks. The walk winds down to the river Teviot then follows the River Kale back up stream along a delightful wooded path.
A short road section takes us back across fields then into the forest.
Grade C+. Sturdy boots & poles advised.
Two refreshment stops.
