The walk starts at Ardgartan Forest car park which is on the left a couple of hundred yards after the road bends to the right at Ardgartan. There are usually plenty of spaces. If you are going direct please let the walk leader know. We would hope to arrive about 9.45 to start walking at 10.00am. We follow the forest track for 10 to 15 mins before starting a steep climb through the forest and then on to open hillside. Depending on conditions parts of this walk can often be muddy so gaiters might be useful. There is a further steep climb to the summit of The Brack at 787 m, which we usually reach in time for lunch. Although not one of the highest peaks, the climb is strenuous, but you will hopefully be rewarded with some great views looking down Loch Long with Ailsa Craig and Arran in the far distance. We descend via the Collessan Glen and follow Cowal Way on tracks and roads back to the start.
The website link below is for The Brack and Cnoc Còinnich. My intention was to do only The Brack, but if it is a really nice day and everyone is in agreement we could go on to the other Corbett which would extend the walk to 9.75 miles
