Explore with us the beautiful countryside around Brackenfield and Ogston Reservoir. We start from the Village Hall in Brackenfield and the route takes us via the path on Highoredish, one of the three Ashover Heathlands owned by Derbyshire County Council. Spectacular views of Ogston Reservoir and the Amber Valley are to be enjoyed in good weather! We continue to Ogston reservoir itself.
Please note the walk will involve some field paths (possibility of cattle!), some woodland paths and also some walking on mainly quiet lanes. Some sections are a little overgrown. There are ascents and descents, a few stiles, some of which require extra care.
As the terrain will be very varied and uneven in places please ensure the use of stout footwear. Walking poles will be useful. Please bring good supplies of food and drink. Please bring completed ICE cards.
