We start this exploration from Newstead Country Park and make our way to Linby, then Papplewick and return via Newstead Abbey. The walking is relatively easy (in normal conditions) and includes a brief look at St. James' Church, Papplewick and the Linby Heritage Centre grounds. Newstead Abbey is always worth a visit and here you will find out what Lord Byron thought of love in a cold climate. As this is a December walk that may be very apt!
Walking is mainly along tracks and a normally quiet road. Walking boots or lightweight boots may be adequate. As this is a winter walk it will be advisable to bring extra layers and effective rainwear. Please bring a completed ICE card (go to our website, click Walks, then click What to Bring), fluids, and plenty to eat.
Assistance dogs are welcome.
Refreshments and toilets at Newstead Abbey. Picnic lunch in the grounds.
Please book by text only with the walk leader by 8 am on the day.
