Overview

This is an 11.2 mile hike through High Wood and out through some lovely countryside on paths over fields and other woods. There is a stream through High Wood with evidence of Beaver activity. On going through the woods, we pass Powedermill Reservoir. There are a couple of short lengths of quiet road that we will need to walk on.

There will be a pub stop of approximately 40 minutes at the Red Lion at Brede for those who wish to have a bite and drink. Opposite the Red Lion is the Church which has benches for those who wish to have their lunch snack there.

Walk leader is Steve Bourne

To get to the Car park at the start of the walk, from Ashford drive to Tenterden and out towards Northiam and turn right at the cross roads in Broad Oak. There are two car parks in High Wood and we will be starting at the second one which will be on your left when driving on the B2089. The post code however will take you to Stocklands Farm which is on a narrow lane that comes out onto the B2089 not far from the start of walk carpark. Turn left at the T-junction and the car park is just a few hundred metres on your right hand side.
