This is 12.5 mile walk starting from Cranbrook, heading over a picturesque landscape of woodlands, orchards & farmland, whilst also visiting the delightful village of Goudhurst.
This anti-clockwise traverse initially heads in a north-westerly direction, as we make progress to Colliers Green. The walk continues through various woods, farms & open countryside, before arriving at Brandfold. We turn right along the B2079 road for about 100 metres, to then join a track to the left, at this point there are fine views over the Teise Valley to admire.
Near Trottenden Farm, our circuit joins the High Weald Landscape Trail (HWLT), which is a 90-mile linear route from Horsham to Rye, crossing the Heald Weald AONB. On arrival at Goudhurst, we will stop here for our picnic lunch, whilst the Star & Eagle pub is useful for post lunch drinks. This attractive village rests on a hilltop, the church is worth visiting and on occasions the tower is open, and there are weather-boarded houses to admire, as well as a pond.
After our break, we continue on the HWLT, which is our companion throughout the remainder of our circuit back to Cranbrook via Glassenbury.
