A walk through upper Glenalmond starting beside the small, but dramatic, waterfall known as Buchanty Spout. Our route takes us along the River Almond beside a series of rapids, through a mixed woodland and arable landscape and past the gardens of Glenalmond House before climbing up on to open moorland. From the highest point on our walk, with extensive views over the Perthshire countryside, we descend gradually to Buchanty Loch and Glenalmond House Arboretum with some fine towering specimen conifers. A short walk along the Almond takes us back to the start.
There is a café at Gloagburn Farm Shop near Methven, which we can visit after the walk.

There are generally good paths and tracks, with several uphill sections and some stiles and gates. There is a little road walking, so care will be required.
The walk reaches a relatively high level, so please wear good, all-weather walking gear, with spare hat and gloves, and sufficient food and drink for a full day out in the hills. Good walking boots will be needed, as some muddy and rough terrain will be encountered. Livestock may be met along the route.
