This is a linear walk from Cramond Brig Hotel (Miller and Carter) following the River Almond to the shore close to Cramond Island. We cross by the wartime causeway that can only be used during low tide conditions. The route takes in Roman ruins before returning by the outward path.
Car share: please note that parking is limited at the start point, so please arrange to share cars if at all possible. Passengers are recommended to give their driver £3 for this trip.
The walk takes rough, riverside paths, minor roads by the promenade and the tidal causeway, which can be slippery. The paths on the island can be muddy. Take care of road traffic in Cramond village.
Please wear good footwear suitable for wet and slippery terrain.
Walk grade: Leisurely/C
