Paisley- The 'Buddie Walk of Fame' is a newly created (2024) walk around Scotland's largest town. People from Paisley are known as Paisley 'Buddies' and Paisley has created a walk of fame to pay tribute to the Paisley Buddies from the world of stage, music, art and sport. We will follow the trail to learn more about Paisley's sons and daughters and discover more about the town's landmark buildings.
The walk will commence from Paisley Gilmour Street train station (rear entrance) at 11 am. following the 4 mile trail around Paisley, stopping for coffee/ lunch at Paisley Arts Centre Cafe (outside seating available also) around 12.15 pm. Walk is expected to finish 1.30 pm at the oldest pub in Paisley 'The Bull' where a 'snug' has been reserved for those who wish to stay for coffees/teas or a wee dram to bring in the New Year with their walking buddies!
Paisley- most local trains (Ayr/Largs/Ardrossan/Glasgow) stop at Paisley Gilmour Street Train Station, with the Ardrossan train arriving at Paisley 10.53 and the Largs train arrving at 10.47. There is ample parking for cars in Paisley should anyone wish to drive, parking is free on a Sunday and I would suggest the Maxwell Street car park, what 3 words 'descend.pans.mouth' as its very close to the station.
This is mainly a flat pavement walk, with an incline going up 'Oakshaw Brae' elevation 184 ft.
There is a booklet that can be downloaded should you wish to read about the walk prior to going- just google 'Paisley First' Buddie walk of fame or see the link below. There are QR codes on the trail and I also have some booklets should anyone on the walk want a copy to keep. The front pages of the booklet are in the photos below. As I was doing the recce for the walk, the Paisley buddies were out celebrating their local football team winning the cup and I have also included a photo of their open top bus celebration.
