A walk across the Llangennith Burrows to visit the island of Burry Holms and Blue Pool on the north-west coast of Gower.
The Burrows are where Billy Butlin in the1950s would have built a concrete holiday park. Luckily for us the plans never came to fruition so we can enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
Reaching the beach, we’ll turn north to Burry Holms where at low tide we can visit the remains of the early Christian Church and explore the rest of the island.
We’ll then make our way to Broughton - and tide permitting, walk along the beach to Blue Pool before returning to the start.
Stiles: There are no stiles on this walk.
Toilets: At the end of the walk in the pub.
Terrain: Sandy/grass covered hard surfaces, pebbles, beach and limestone surfaces.
Social after walk:
Afterwards, we will go for refreshments to The King’s Head in Llangennith.
