We are the Dunfermline and West Fife Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Starting from the attractive village of Gargunnock, our route climbs the escarpment of the Gargunnock Hills to reach the high point of Carleatheran Hill (a sub-2000 Marilyn) with views over Flanders Moss to the mountains beyond. We return on a more southerly route across the wild expanse of Touch Muir.
Terrain: A mix of farm tracks and moorland paths, with some pathless boggy sections on the plateau. After an initial steep ascent, the path levels out with a series of undulations until the final relatively steep descent to the start.
High-level walk.....good, all-weather walking gear required.
Muddy & rough in places......strong walking boots required.
If livestock are encountered, walk quietly, avoiding contact.
Road walking.....exercise care, walk in single file.
Car share: return mileage is 68 miles. Passengers give driver £6.
