This walk takes part of the Fife Coastal Path from beyond the historic harbour at Dysart. Passing the white-washed stepped gable houses, then the seawall below the former Frances colliery, the route becomes more rural as it reaches the towers and memorials of the Wemyss Estate and the well-preserved village of West Wemyss. Carrying on close to the shore, we come to East Wemyss, before reaching the famous Wemyss Caves, some of which have rock carvings from 5000 years ago. Then we arrive at the former fishing village and port town of Buckhaven. Our walk retraces the route to Dysart.
Waymarked coastal path, town pavements, sandy beach and some woodland stretches. There are one or two sections with steep steps. However, walking is generally easy.
Car share: return mileage from meeting poin to walk start is 32 miles. Passengers should give the driver £3.
