We start by walking up Cave Dale, a stony path with one steep very rocky section before it opens out to a broad grassy path. Leaving Cave Dale we walk towards Windy Knoll, along Rushup Edge and down Chapel Gate (another very stony path) to Edale. We walk through fields, lanes and tracks to Edale station (drop off point), continuing to the path up to Backtor Nook. This is a steep but good grassy path. From the ridge we descend back to Castleton.
