After a brief walk along the Tweed the route climbs from Abbotsford along lanes to Cauldshiels Loch. An enjoyable saunter across upland along the Borders Abbey Way precedes an easy descent and return beside the River Tweed.
Will need boots and poles as it may be muddy. 1.5 miles of walking on a minor road before crossing the A7. (Advise single file walking).
