Overview

This moderate walk starts from the car park in the Causey Arch Picnic Area and is just over 5 miles. We head down the steps towards the Causey Burn, where we will veer off and head into Beckley Wood. There is a stile at the beginning and the end of the woods, and a short steep hill on the route.

We then walk through a dry meadow field and follow a path by Gill Woods. Once past the woods, there is a track that has two large puddles that take up all the track (it is permanently like this). We can, however, manage to walk to the side. We come out at the Pack Horse pub and then head towards, and walk past, Hobson Golf Course.

We will then walk across Tanfield Moor, where there is a lovely view if the weather is on our side, and down into Tanfield: we follow the road to East Tanfield Station, then along the track to Causey Arch and back to the car park.

After the walk, we can use the Poppy Coffee Pot cafe, which you will pass on the way to the car park.
