The Cobbler is short of being a Munro but is a fairly strenuous walk up a well defined path. This is an iconic mountain with a distinctive shape reminiscent of a cobbler at a last. Also known as Ben Arthur, it is popular with spectacular views of the surrounding southern highland mountains.
Our path zig zags through forest into a glen that runs along the Allt a’ Bhalachain stream. At the bealach between The Cobbler, Beinn Ime and Narnain we will take the steep steps to reach the two peaks of the Cobbler where 'threading the needle' is optional. We will then descend going east, crossing a couple of burns to re-join the route of the walk-in.
Good boots are essential and poles are recommended.
Cafes and hotel-restaurants in Arrochar might be attractive after the walk.
