Meet at Combs Reservoir Car Park at 9.30 a.m. to walk to Tunstead Milton to catch the 9.52 199 bus to Sylvan Park, Buxton.
This walk has the completion of the circumnavigation of Combs Moss started on 1st October 2024. For good measure a trip around the sights of Buxton is included. No WW2 curiosities this time but the location of a remarkable incident in sporting history will be visited.
Route: Solomon's Tower, Pavillion Gardens, Corbar Hill, Combs Edge, Castle Naze, Combs.
Around Buxton the paths are pretty good. Once we get on to Combs Edge, which is Access Land, you are glad of what you can find. There are stiles of varying quality. On the positive side the views can be spectacular.
Bring bus pass or ticket money, food and plenty of liquids. No dogs.
Given recent weather and the absence of shade for much of the walk some sun protection would be prudent. Pole users will be glad they brought them.
Because I want to avoid swamping the bus with passengers please book in advance on 0778 264 0110.
