We begin at Balmaha car park, then return to Milton of Buchanan via pavement and head north from there to pick up the West Highland Way. We stop for a tea break about an hour in, where there is a bench and a chance for a comfort stop. Our route takes us up a rising, easy-to-follow path. We go through a stickered gate and on to a rocky incline, which could be slippery if wet. We have a sharp little summit to navigate where we are rewarded with stunning views of Loch Lomond and its islands. There are areas of loose stones on the way off the summit. We stop for lunch here, then descend down a rocky path back to the car park. The Oak Tree Inn is across the road, where there is the option to have a coffee/ ice cream. Poles are recommended.
We will meet at Morrisons at 8.30 to car share and head to Balmaha to start the walk at 10.00. The round trip is 92 miles so a flat rate of £10 per passenger in shared cars from Morrison's. This includes parking fees which are the driver's expense from the collected funds.
For those driving independently note, parking fees are £5.00 to £8 per car cash or card. It is also 50p CONTACTLESS CARD for toilet.
