The walk starts at Muiravonside Church car park, heads West along the canal towards Brightons, turning off near Maddistons to gain height and good view of the hills of Fife and beyond. Then country lane (not for traffic) towards the Bathgate hills and Muiravonside Country Park. Woodland, meadow and river walk. Historic lime kilns and Avon Aquaduct. Return along the canal.
Two lots of steps, a few metres on footpath by side of road walking and quite wet and muddy after rain on the entrance to the first field after the canal. Gaiters and poles useful here.
