This short and gentle walk explores some of the idyllic creeks and picture-perfect hamlets of the Fal valley along wooded paths and quiet country lanes.
Bring a flask for a tea/coffee break on the creek and packed lunch at Old Kea Church. A bottle of water is strongly recommended.
Walking boots or strong trainers are required.
Starting above the hamlet of Cowlands we take a riverside path along Lamouth Creek to the headland at Roundwood Quay (the only inland promontory fort in Cornwall) before looping back with picturesque view down to Cowlands Creek, where we shall shortly be walking.
Dropping down to the chocolate box hamlet of Cowlands we follow the creek and beautiful cottages to Coombe and the village reading room/shop. Thereafter entering woodlands and passing the tea bushes of the Tregothnan Estate.
A climb up a lane and across fields with opening views of the Fal River brings us to the romantic ruins for Old Kea church for lunch.
A quiet lane takes us past Lanner Farm and down to Cowlands Creek and the return to the cars.
