This is a fairly level rural walk through fields and woods, along less travelled paths and away from major roads, with long views.
The route takes us from Edenbridge fairly immediately past Skeynes Park across the Kent Brook into Surrey, and then through Wintersell and Oldhouse Farms to Crowhurst where we will take a mid- morning break by the ancient Crowhurst Yew, designated one of the Great British Trees in 2002, and admire the interior of the 12th Century St George's Church.
Spiritually and physically refuelled we will move on through Foyles Farm to Earl's Wood, now a nature sanctuary but for a short period an ammunition dump, where we will have our picnic lunch and take refreshments at the Royal Oak (AKA the Grumpy Mole).
Our return will take us through Staffhurst Woods and past Gaywood Farm and Scamperdale with views to our left of the Greensand Ridge before we cross the railway line and enter Edenbridge.
While the walk is fairly flat with few ascents we do cross fields with limited paths and the hard ground is rough and care in walking is needed. Because it is a rustic walk there are several stiles.
Please check the www.sevenoaksramblers.org.uk website for updates and the weather forecast before leaving for the walk.
