Walking in Sevenoaks and beyond
Our aim is to help you enjoy the wonderful countryside round Sevenoaks, and we try to tailor our walks programme to what our members want. Our walk leaders can take you on lesser-known paths, give you access to glorious views, and help foster friendships with like-minded people.
Occasionally we organise outings a bit further afield, such as to the South Downs and Ashdown Forest, but most of our walking time is spent on the fine local attractions – the North Downs, Sevenoaks Weald, Greensand Ridge, Eden Valley – locations with a variety of historical associations, lovely scenery and some delightful hostelries.
We generally walk in modest-sized groups – seldom more than about fifteen people – mostly on Wednesdays and Sundays. You can choose outings to stretch you (typically 10-12 miles with plenty of up and down) or more leisurely rambles of 5-7 miles – whatever you prefer.
Our walking community
Short walks, long walks; hilly walks, flat walks; woodland walks, walks in open countryside – we offer them all! Several of our walks will start and finish near a pub or other source of refreshment, and on our longer walks there will often be an opportunity (but no compulsion!) to visit a hostelry at the lunch break.
When the days are longer, we will organise occasional evening walks, with an opportunity for socialising thrown in. On our walks you will often meet people from other local Ramblers groups - a way of broadening your walking contacts.
As well as social events we arrange walking holidays in the UK or further afield; these have been very popular.
