Overview

A circular walk in the Black Mountains, with great views to Skirrid and Sugar Loaf on a fine day. We cross the Grwyne Fawr valley to the beautiful and interesting church of St Issui and then up onto Crug Mawr. From the trig point it’s northwards, initially on open land, and then via forestry and tracks. We’ll head back and up the east side of the valley aiming for the Twyn Y Gaer Hill Fort. From here it’s a short descent back to the start.

Some rough paths so poles will be useful.

Bring MMR, pack lunch and maybe an extra snack in case we want to linger a while on the hill fort in the afternoon.
