Overview

The walk starts from the Fountain Inn where we ascend to join the wind turbine road before dropping into Cwm Dulais.

We follow a track to emerge at the site of the old colliery from where we will take the path along the side of Mynydd Pysgodlyn.  We then join the road to Cwm Cerdinen.

We take a wet and muddy path over the new bridge (erected by our group) to the Lily Ponds where we will have lunch.

From there, the ground is pathless with muddy/stony and tussocky sections until we reach Twyn Tyle.

Twyn Tyle provides a fine ridge walk up to Maggie’s Tower with good views - from which point the path descends to join the old colliery railway line.

We then make our way back to the Fountain.

N.B. Wet, muddy ground with little shelter. Waterproofs and boots needed.

Social after walk:

Afterwards, we will go for refreshments to The Black Horse
