Join us for a beautiful and varied circular walk starting and ending at the historic Dancers End Pumping Station and Dancersend Nature Reserve -a patchwork of woods, grassland, scrub and chalk pit across two valleys. The varied landscape, soil types and habitats ensure a rare diversity of flora and fauna. Around half the reserve is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and the rest a Local Wildlife Site. Dancersend inspired Charles Rothschild to form the conservation society that became The Wildlife Trusts. It is one of the UK’s earliest nature reserves.
This undulating 10-mile route winds through the peaceful Dancersend Valley and Nature Reserve, climbs Aston Hill with its far-reaching views, and explores some of the quieter, less-trodden paths through Wendover Woods — away from the busier family areas. A lovely mix of open countryside, ancient woodland, and hidden corners of the Chilterns. Bring a packed lunch, lots of water, hat and sunscreen!
