We are a friendly, socially active Ramblers Group welcoming all who enjoy walking. Our walks programme is extensive and varied covering all days of the week.
Update after recce on 8th November. Linear walk through mix of woodlands and quiet roads. Pub lunch at The Plough at Effingham. I was unable to find any nearby picnic facilities. Please text by 1pm on Monday 10th November to book for pub lunch. The walk is an easy one with just gentle ups and downs with about 200 feet total ascent. Very little mud encountered on the recce and no stiles. I made the walk 4.8 miles, 2.7 miles before lunch and 2.1 miles after. A drop off from the walk is possible at lunch by taking a bus (frequency every 30 minutes) from very near the pub to Leatherhead and Epsom. The timing of the return train means that there is plenty of time for the walk so the walk can be conducted at a very relaxed pace.
Train from Sutton Station at 9:58 to Epsom and then 10:28 to Effingham Junction. Please purchase a return to Effingham Junction. There is a later train at 10:13 from Sutton but this arrives at Epsom only 5 minutes before the train to Effingham Junction. The earlier train also gives enough time to use the toilets at Epsom Station. Alternatively 10:10 direct from Wimbledon to Effingham Junction. Purchase day return to Effingham Junction. At end of walk, train at 15:03 from Bookham arriving at Sutton at 15:41 by changing at Epsom.
