Join us this Good Friday for a cracking 9-mile Easter adventure as we set off from Theale station on a brand new route I’ve not led before—so expect a true Eggs-ploration of a walk!
We start by hopping out of Theale and onto the lovely Kennet & Avon Canal, easing ourselves in with a gentle, scenic stretch—perfect for warming up the legs (and working off a few chocolate eggs 🍫). Keep your eyes peeled for ducks, swans, and possibly the Easter Bunny making a quick getaway…
From there, things get a little more “egg-citing” as we skirt alongside the M4 (don’t worry, we won’t be racing the traffic 🐇💨) before looping around the picturesque Sherfield Bottom Lake—an ideal spot for a quick breather and some springtime views.
Continuing on, we wander through Burghfield and past Clayhill Copse, with a nice mix of paths to keep things interesting—no chance of this walk being over-easy! We then make our way through Sulhamstead before rejoining the Kennet & Avon Canal at Tyle Mill Bridge.
The final stretch is a relaxed canal-side stroll back towards Theale—time to unwind, enjoy the fresh spring air, and reflect on a job well “eggs-ecuted” 👏
We’ll finish back at the station, hopefully feeling eggs-hausted but happy after a thoroughly eggs-cellent Good Friday out on the trails!
