Overview

This is another chance to do this walk. Last time was in the depths of snowy winter and only a handful of us made it. Starting off from Fritham, our walk takes us through ancient woods and over heather covered heathland with some nice views.

The Elephant Oak was a contender last autumn for the Woodland Trust's competition for the most iconic oak tree. It's hard to find and it's mysterious shape seems to attract tree worshippers and various other rather odd visitors like Ramblers.

The walk is very gentle but with the occasional tree root, lumpy bit and stream to cross. Some very good solid tracks. No stiles. Gently undulating.
