Overview

Meet at the Salisbury Park and Ride site just south of the City on the A338 at 10.00. No parking charges. From there the walk will head to Coombe Bissett (where there is a shop) taking in part of the River Ebble (see photo). Continuing along the Ebble to Stratford Tony the route joins the Cranborne Droves Way and climbs to the Salisbury Racecourse. Then after taking in a section of the Old Shaftesbury Drove next to the racecouse it is down to Harnham and its water meadows (see web link). Here there will be a refreshment stop by the river in the rear garden of the Old Mill Hotel. Then it is along Town Walk and scenes painted by Constable (see photo) to the Cathedral at the west door (see photo) where the Cranborne Droves Way ends. Finally, back to the P&R via Britford. The walk is not flat but no serious undulations as the route keeps between 145 and 397 feet above sea level. Bring Picnic Lunch.
