Overview

Once upon a time, there was a dragon who terrorised the villagers of Bisterne, flying every morning from his lair on the Burley Beacon into the village, demanding milk, meat or a lovely maiden. The fed him on milk for a while but the villages became exhausted and so Sir Maurice de Berkley, the lord of the manor, had to drive him off round the forest.

Our walk tracks his territory around the Beacon to the village of Burley on mainly good paths and tracks across heather covered heathland and village paths. No stiles.
