Meet in The Square by the entrance to the church. Park considerately in The Square or on nearby roads. The walk starts near to the Rose and Crown bus stop in Elham, which is served by the number 17 bus between Folkestone and Canterbury - though please check times. Public toilets are available in Elham at the start and end of the walk.
The walk has some hills but will be at a leisurely pace. We’ll leave the village with a short climb out of the Valley to reach the Memorial Gate to former leading members of our Group, Margaret Lubbock and Les Preston, then across farmland to Acrise Place and via tracks and quiet roads to Crete Downs overlooking the Channel Tunnel terminal with views across Folkestone and The Channel. Our return will be via Paddlesworth, Great Shuttlesfield and The Elham Valley Way. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, but there will be some stiles which may not all be dog-friendly and we may encounter livestock.
Please bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. There are refreshment opportunities at the end of the walk at The Kings Arms pub or the recently re-opened Elham Tea House.
