Overview

e walk across the Thame River and detour to catch a glimpse of Eythrope House and grounds, now part of the Waddesden Estate. Originally owned by the Rothschild family.  We then retrace our steps to take the Jubilee way along the river and its tributaries. We cross the river where we will stop for lunch. We then need to walk along the road for a section and will need to keep in single file as there is a narrow verge. We turn off the road at Dinton castle- now a private dwelling, and walk back across fields to the lane where we started. There are several plank bridges and a couple of rickety and broken stiles which we need to cross. (I managed them!) The walk is generally flat with a couple of mild inclines. Some parts muddy although there are some tarmac paths.

The Bugle Horn Pub is a short drive away on the route back to Aylesbury if we want to have a refreshment stop. (Hartwell Rd HP17 8QP)

Well behaved dogs are allowed.

Eythrope Road, HP17 8PH Starting point: Eythrope Road. From the A418 take the Eythrope Rd, a lane that is signed to Eythrope Only. Just after the village hall coming from Aylesbury. Directly opposite to the Bishopstone Road. Continue beyond the houses and the Ernest cook trust buildings, through the gate onto the Waddesden estate. There are several parking lay byes on the left hand side of the road, some way down the road. Walk to the meeting point where 2 paths meet through gates across the road, soon after the bend. Will take a few minutes.
