Due to an ongoing road closure restricting access to Llanthony Priory, the start point has now had to be changed. We will meet at the Llanthony Wood free car park, which is ca. 600 yards on the right up Penrhiw Road after turning directly left at the Queens Head Pub on the Llanthony road after the village of Stanton. Please park sensibly due to the potential limited spaces.
Our first climb of the day will be a steep ascent to the Bronze Age / Roman Hillfort of Twyn y Gaer for an early morning break, followed by a ridge walk along the Beacons Way via Garn Wen and Bal Bach and a descent to take lunch at Llanthony Priory (toilet facilities should be available).
After lunch we will climb Rhiw Cwrw (The Beer Track) and emerge on Hatterrall Ridge (552m) with further stunning views in all directions (weather dependent of course). After a lengthy ridge walk we then descend steep moorland to view the delightful leaning church at Cwmyoy.
The return to the start point then follows quiet roads from the church.
DUE TO THE RELATIVE LIMITED CAR PARKING SPACES NOW AVAILABLE NO NEW BOOKINGS FOR THIS WALK CAN BE TAKEN - SORRY
Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of warm clothing.
No dogs please.
For those wishing to car share we will be leaving Wilton Road Car Park at 08.20am.
