The St James way is officially part of the Camino de Santiago. If you would like a pilgrim passport they are £6 each, I can buy these in advance if you let me know by 21st March, otherwise the museum holds a few copies if you want to get one there before joining us on the day. Along the way we will be going into churches, and you can collect stamps.
The walk will start at the Abbey in Reading at 10:30. The first stop will be at James church by the Abbey and the first chance of a stamp, we will then head along the Kennet and Avon canal out of Reading toward Theale. We pass The Cunning Man Pub at Burghfield, not a planned stop but we can grab a coffee/tea if needed before continuing along the Kennet until Shefield bottom where we will stop for lunch.
We then leave the Kennet and move inland towards Sulhamstead where we will stop at St Mary's church for a stamp and loo stop, maybe even a cake if the café is open, before making our way to Mortimer common which is the end of this walk. St John church in Mortimer will also give your passport a stamp if you want it. We can then take the 2a lime bus back to Reading, these are every 30 mins and takes 44 mins, there is the possibility to stop for a drink in one the of pubs in Mortimer before getting the bus back.
For anyone wants to do the whole walk but can't make this day and wanted to do the walk a different time it is very easy to do. I can send you the map of the section and there are the camion yellow scallop shell and arrows to follow and I look forward to seeing on the next one.
