A linear walk from Egton Bridge to Whitby, where the River Esk meets the sea, via Sleights and Ruswarp. The walk is approximately 9 miles' long and is moderately hilly, following farm tracks and woodland paths.
We will meet in the free car park next to the school and near to the railway station in Egton Bridge village at 10am. From there we will follow the Esk Valley Way until Ruswarp, where our route diverges and follows the route of the railway, underneath the impressive Larpool Viaduct to end in the centre of Whitby. We will then catch the train back to Egton. There is one departing at 1550, or a later one at 1834. The walk is likely to finish around 2.30-3pm, which leaves a little time for sight-seeing or refreshments at the local pubs and cafes.
