Todays 10ish mile walk will be on a mixture of country lanes, muddy fields and country paths. This area around Swinbrook is where the famous Mitford sisters were raised.
Some features of the walk include:
1. A 1000 year old Yew tree
2. Fine views over a part of the Windrush Valley
3. Asthall Manor, home to some of the Mitford Sisters (1919 - 1926)
4. The Swan Inn, Swinbrook - owned at one time by Debo, the youngest of the sisters.

5. Swinbrook Church - the last resting place of the parents and four of the Mitford sisters. + some fine Bale tombs and Miserichords
6. St Oswald 13thC church at Widford and the abandoned Medieval Village
7. The dry valley of Dean Bottom
And finishing with a meander alongside the River Windrush and back into Burford.
Please bring a packed lunch, water and snacks.
There may be sheep and cattle so dogs welcome but on leads.
The walk will start promptly at 10.15am, so do arrive in time to put on boots etc (pre 10am arrival recommended). Although there is parking, please car share where possible - it's better for the environment, and more considerate for other car park users.
