This circular walk in Ashdown Forest follows part of the Vanguard Way in the morning, passing by the memorial to A. A. Milne and E.H. Shepherd and crossing the Pooh Sticks Bridge. Stopping for lunch around the half way mark at Hartfield village, which has cafes, a pub and a public garden for those bringing a picnic lunch.
The afternoon part of the walk follows the Wealdway.
There are some hills and unless the rain stops soon, it could be quite muddy and slippery in parts. Poles are recommended.
Cars are required. Ramblers who have cars, please offer lifts to others. The fee for parking is £5 and is payable on several Apps, including PayByPhone, RingGo and Just Park.
If you can, please RSVP to this walk via our Meetup site. This will give the walk leader a rough idea of how many people may be attending. If you are a paid up member of the Ramblers organisation, you can ignore any waitlist you may find yourself on.
We don't ask you to pay to join us on your first three walks. Afterwards, in order to continue walking with our group, you must become a paid-up member of the Ramblers. Click here (https://www.ramblers.org.uk/membership) to apply. The cost is very reasonable and there are also other benefits. Please then bring your membership card with you.
