From Galston we walk out past Barr Castle and follow the Burn Anne trail through the Burnhouse Brae Wood. We then follow a minor road for about a mile to the Gallow Law cairn, where we’ll have a coffee break. Leaving the cairn, we walk through several plantations, some of which have been recently felled. Following a lunch stop, we enter the Lanfine Estate, where we may see the wild boars in their enclosure, before heading back to Darvel.
Grade C+
Risk Assessement
We need to be aware of traffic on the minor road section, and the field leading up to the cairn is likely to be very muddy (approx. 200 yards). There is one gate to be climbed.
