Overview

A moderate paced walk through gently undulating farmland.  Heading northwards through Benington for a picnic lunch in the churchyard.  Continue to Walkern Hall and its winter woodland garden, where we hope to see a display of daffodils and other spring bulbs.  Entrance £5 (under NGS).  Home-made soup, tea and cakes available at garden (picnics not allowed there). No toilets until the garden.

Lunch: Picnic at churchyard.

Train: Moorgate 10:12.  Buy return to Watton-at-Stone.  Note: there are no toilets on this train.  There is an alternative faster, but more expensive, route via Stevenage.
