Overview

Generally undulating but with a few longer hill climbs. . Some rather overgrown footpaths and several rickety stiles in the morning.
From Berwick we head to the village of Wilmington with its ancient Church. Then onwards (and upwards) to view the Long Man chalk figure. We continue down into Alfriston for lunch  (bus opt out available). We follow the Cuckmere valley then a longer ascent to the White Horse chalk figure for dramatic views along the Cuckmere river down to the sea.  Onwards to Cuckmere Haven via Exceat Bridge (bus opt out available).  A further longer ascent along the cliff coastal path with classic views back of the Seven Sisters.  Finally descend to Seaford for return train (SWC #90).
