Glasgow Necropolis Ramble & Social
Date of walk: 6 July
Registration for this walk will open on 16 June and closes on 27 June to allow enough time to book a dinner table based on the numbers.
Meeting Point: In front of Glasgow City Chambers, George Square
Walk Length: Approx. 1.5–2 hours Followed by a social meal
Walk Grade: Leisurely urban stroll with gentle climbs.
Join us for a fascinating urban ramble through the iconic Glasgow Necropolis, a Victorian garden cemetery rich in history, architecture, and panoramic views of the city. Starting from George Square, we’ll meander through the Merchant City and make our way to the Necropolis, where we’ll explore its winding paths and grand monuments.
This walk is a gentle-paced, social event, open to a mix of new and existing walkers:
-
Half of the spaces are reserved for new walkers who’ve joined Glasgow Ramblers in the past 12 months, potential new members curious to try out a walk, and returning members who haven’t walked with us in over a year and would love to reconnect.
-
The other half of spaces are open to current, regular members who keep our Rambler community vibrant and welcoming.
After the walk, we’ll continue the fun with a group meal at Mosob Glasgow, a cosy Ethiopian restaurant just a short stroll from Queen Street station. It’s a great chance to relax, connect with fellow walkers, and share stories over delicious food. Check out Mosob here: https://www.mosobglasgow.co.uk
