The area of Gordano in North Somerset is thought to derive its name from the Saxon phrase 'gor denu', which apparently means muddy valley. There will certainly be a valley on this walk, and in late November there will probably be mud too. Hopefully it will be very high quality stuff, but that can't always be guaranteed. There will also be some seaside to ensure that this ramble has been accurately named. Accompanying all this will be wooded delights, burbling streams, bucolic pastures and the occasional hill fort (of which there are a plethora in Somerset). Lunch will be by the seaside settlement of Clevedon, and the Old Inn there still allegedly offers a Sunday carvery - hurrah!
