Overview

This is an 11-mile circuit through glorious parkland, common, countryside & field tracks, starting from Great Chart. We head along The Street through the village to the cricket pitch, joining the Greensand Way (GW)/Stour Valley Walk (SVW), which initially share the same route along the Chart Avenue track.

Continuing on the GW we proceed through the parkland of Godinton House Estate. We will visit the hidden gem of Hothfield Lake & Waterfall, then continue on to pass through Hothfield Common, then the picturesque Little Chart Forstal and its quaint cricket pitch.

Our snack break stop will take place at Little Chart Church, whilst there will be the opportunity to extend the interval as the Swan Inn is right opposite, how very handy!

After the break, the return leg heads to Rooting Manor, there is then though an unavoidable mile or so on road, before briefly re-joining the SVW to proceed through Worten & Goldwell. The final stretch is along a fairly new bridleway that gives great views to the Downs, and over the ever continuing urban sprawl in the surrounding countryside.
