Easy going, no notable climbs, no stiles, no high bridges and mainly good, firm paths. Take care along a few hundred yards of a narrow path between "close in" trees, and on stepping stones across a small shallow stream. We cross a couple of roads with lights and zebra crossing. No official toilets en route (a couple have used toilet in Wickes, Stratford Rd next to Green Road at the start of the walk).
From the start point, we cross the ford and enter parkland heading for Sarehole Mill. We cross the road back into Shire Country park to continue the walk.
A mixture of parkland, fields, tree lined paths and a canal section. The route in part takes us through designated nature reserves.
Towards the end of the walk we turn left for the Colebrook pub, from where Shirley train station is signposted straight down Haslucks Green Road, or, turn right to go directly to Shirley station which will be a little shorter with a couple of turnings. We then get the train back to Hall Green train station.
