Overview

The walk starts from Leasowes car park and follows a disused section of Dudley Canal 2 on the Monarch Way which then crosses the A456, we will detour to use a pedestrian crossing which adds a few minutes but is safe.  We rejoin the path and after passing the remains of Halesowen Abbey and leaving the Monarch Way we head towards Illey and then return in the direction of Lapal to Leasowes park.

It is a flat, countryside walk with good views.  There are a lot of stiles but they are high with supporting posts and easy to step over.  One was broken on the recce but still usable with care.  There were a few muddy patches and if we get more rain, walking poles may be useful.
