Overview

Route begins with a climb to the summit of Black Down, taking in great views of the surrounding landscape. We then descend to the village of Fernhurst, and continue along an undulating route through fields and woodlands. Last part of walk passes the impressive ruins of Cowdray House. Total ascent 550m.

Please bring a packed lunch. Pub stop during walk and at the end.

Terrain: Hills, woods, fields, lanes

Travel: Take the 9:45 from London Waterloo (9:52 Clapham Junction), arrive Haslemere 10:49.

Buy a return to Haslemere.

First part of journey back from Midhurst is by bus, route 70 to Haslemere (buy ticket on the bus - £2, contactless accepted).

Buses depart Midhurst bus station at 17:05, 18:10 and 19:15 (last bus of the day). Journey time 27 min.
