From Rowsley we make our way via the Peak Village Nature Reserve and Smeltingmill Brook to the outskirts of Beeley. From there a gradual ascent takes us up into Beeley and Hellbank Plantations. Our return leg involves the path below Fallinge Edge, from which we descend via Rowsley Wood, Copy Wood and Northwood Carr to Northwood. The final leg is along a path which skirts the Derwent. This is a very varied walk with the possibility of fantastic views of the Derwent Valley and beyond.
The terrain on this walk is very varied and involves woodland, fields and tracks in open country. Surfaces vary and some sections are uneven underfoot. Ascents and descents are mainly steady with some steeper sections. I recommend sturdy footwear and walking poles. Please ensure you have plenty of sustenance and fluids!
Please also have a completed ICE card with you.
