Overview

We will depart from Helmsley at 9.30am.  We will take the Cleveland Way to Cold Kirby and then cross fields and some minor roads to reach our lunch stop at Old Byland. After we continue across fields, through woods and by a river to reach Rievaulx Abbey. Here we will visit the tea room for a well earned cuppa. A short road walk takes us back to the Cleveland Way for our return to Helmsley.

There will be the option of a meal in Helmsley. Please contact Liz to book a place for the meal.

This is a long linear walk, 14 miles.  At Old Byland there is a Bake Box where you can buy delicious home made cakes for £1 - please bring change for this.  The cafe at Rievaulx takes both cash and card. There are toliets in the Cleveland Way car park and at the Abbey. Car parking is £7.90 for the full day.
